Wild Green Discus Newly arrived

Post by Pelle » 22 Sep 2009, 11:00

I hope Heiko and all of you Discus freaks could take a look at the photos and give me your thoughts about these youngsters.
I imported these from Colombia together with an old friend and according to the exporter they are collected in August (this year), they were collected in the amazon region near Tarapaca in the Putumayo river.
They arrived Sweden September 9th and the pictures are taken the day after they came to their new home.
Looking at them, they are quite small and have lovely shape but basically no colors yet.
I think and hope that they will develop much better coloration and I can see (if I look closely) some red spots hidden on their bodies.
One thing that I wonder is about their eye color. My adult Red spotted Greens have blood red eyes but these have more amber colored eyes.
Will they keep that color or change when they get older?.
Another question is how fast you think they will grow?
They are fed 3-5 times a day with white, black and red bloodworms and brine shrimp. Starting to teach them to eat flake food as well.

Thank you Bjornik!
I'm looking forward to see how they develop and I will post more pictures of them as they grow.
Do you still have yours?

Thanks Matte!

Yesterday my small friends looking at the camera again, so here is an update on their development.
I have had them now for about three months and they start to show their true beauty. It will take another 6-8 months until they have coloured out completely. Look at the first picture in this thread and compare with the ones I post today....
You can also compare the new ones with the older and fully grown ones and see that there are reason to be patient and wait

Hope you like what you see.
