Amazonian aquarium

Post by Dizkuz » 14 Feb 2008, 00:38

This is a old project that matte_g and i did some time ago and i like it allot and want to share it here at DFS.

The idea where to get a piece of Amazons and bring it home!
And get a low ph so we dint need a bio filter when the bacterium dont work under ph 5 so went crazy with the peat!!!!
But we had a chamber for a bio filter if we need it in the future.....
The tank where auto WC and self controlled so less work for us!

5 hours of work and 70 dollars later, this is the low budget tank

Hope you enjoy it as we did.

Hi, Dizkuz

congratulations, this is really a very nice ecoration, almost authentic for your Heckel discus. very well done.

Theoonly thing: please no not call it Amazon Aquarium, there can never be such a thing. First Amazon has white water, no Discus and realy ever small fishes. If you really want to make an Amazon Aquarium than you must place giant fishes and make the whater white (so you can see 5cm deep, no more...). Better call it Rio Negro aquarium, for instance.

All the best with your Rio Negro aquarium...

Nice tank. Like the combination om peat and wood. Looked like a natural mudbank. Whan kind of roots and woodpieces did you use?
