And the next competitor Team RO,Peat! a little shy but already eating!
All juvs have 100% straight stress bars, i believe it is the low conductivity, if its to high they will have not that straight stress bars, Me believe not say its right but me believe! You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Very interesting belief! Great progress report on this experiment.

Re: The 10 vs the 10
SO the way to go is only ro water according to your experiment then Göran

I beleve that doing RO water ower peat is the way to go yes, no nitrit no nitate no fungus, paracites get a hard life and it is pretty close to nature! Better than salt!

Boiling one of the groups but the difference was enormous, the group in ro and pet was growing twice the size.

Re: The 10 vs the 10
This is very interesting Goran. I would have expected the opposite! LOL How wrong I am.
One thing that will convince me 100% if you compare it to let's say a successful full-time breeder's methods. Example 6 times feeding 3-5X WC. How many % different would it be in term of growth. It probably not possible but I consider this something I can emulate as I have similar drip overflow system.
I myself have not fed beefheart to my fishes for 3 months. No disease or any sort of sickness. Water is always crystal clear. Fish grow slower but that's all I can afford in terms of time unfortunately.
Please do keep up the experiment, but I suspect that the non-beefheart fellas would look leaner and healthier.

Think if you took ro water ower pet and have the water on PH 4,5 and the conductivity on 25 microsiemens, in that water you give the parasites and evil bacteria problems and the discus will believe that they are i heaven. Do a 6 times feeding a day and 100-200% wc whit prepared water! Now you will see growth and perfekt shape!!

Re: The 10 vs the 10
What kind of peat are you using Goran? The tannic and humic acids would simulate their natural habitat. We do have some blackwater streams in Malaysia. Maybe <1% size of Amazon. I can collect Cattapa[Ketapang] leaves from Indian Almond tree 50m from my house! [but still I'm lazy. huh]
[I'm from a country that gets approximately 2,000 mm to 2,500 mm [79-98"] of rainfall a year and in general our tap water is low in conductivity. Hence the ease in producing discus because of readily available soft water.]
