Hello,

Yes Im certainly impressed with it. Hopefully the new tank (6'Lx3'Wx2'H) for it will come at the beginning of Feb.

Ouscazz, Im right in thinking you have a background in with your Heckels, do you keep any Plecs, how does the background stand up to thier rasping and algae eating? I was thinking of my favourite L134 and L183? Anyone else had any experience with these type of backgrounds and Plecs?

That looks very nice Dan. Wish I didn't have to wait so long to see your set up, but slow & careful planning makes for a perfect tank!

Waiting eagerly & with baited breath !

Hello Robyn, (I take it that is you?)

You found the site ok then? Thanks, as you say taking it slowly and carefully planning so hopefully will get it right. It would be great to see some pics of your beautiful Greens over here.

Missed this Dan, my apologies.. :blush3:

You have to choose Loricariidae wisely. No Panaques or other wood eaters! Hypancistrus, Baryancistrus and so on are good choise of plecs. I have had L128, L168, L333, L401, and currently have L046 and sturisomas in this tank, no problems with rasping the background.

Hello Ouscazz,

No need to apologise. Thanks for the info, L128 is one of my favs so thats really good to here. I have been following your Altums progress (they are stunning!) with great interest as these are what Im very interested in trying next with some L128.

Ive also been reading your thread about installing your background, Im beginning to see that the filter behind the background is not a very good idea? Is this your conclusion? Any tips gratefully recieved.

Thanks

Thanks Dan, yes they are really stunning fish. :heart5:
I've moved the Altums and L128 to a new biotope tank http://diskusforum.se/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5033" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would recommend you to use a large capacity external filter, works really great for me. I have the Eheim 2080 in both my large tanks.

Ive been watching the videos of your Altums and found your thread a couple of days ago about your biotope tank (As I have to translate everything its taken me time to find it). Its a beautiful set up.

I agree, the Eheim 2080 is a great filter, I have the same (that was used on my last set up) but with a heating element in it (2180). I think Im going to stick with that now having read your advice and others on here.

But if you keep the filter media in bags (nylon bags or something) I think you can switch media easy when you need to.
It sounds as a lite waste to not use the space?
