Hi bucket!

I´m not Andrew, but perhaps you have misspelled it - you might mean the red stain used as an anti-bacterial agent?
This stuff perhaps, or
This stuff perhaps

The name fuchsin comes from the flower "fuchsia" which has many different bluish-pinkish-red colors. I used it alot in my work at chem-lab.

Regards,
Christina G

Seems to me, there could be a risk for mixup (pun intended
Does he mention this in his book somewhere? I could look it up.

Hello,

Fucin is a concoction of antibiotics (a name coined by me) and is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria :tumme2: . Further to that, it is both:

1) Bacteriostatic –
a. Exerting their antimicrobial effect by the inhibition of protein synthesis
b. Interferes with the reproduction of the genetic code

2) Bactericide –
a. Interference with the enzyme DNA gyrase
b. Bactericidal action by inhibiting septum and/or bacterial cell wall synthesis

and

Indication:
Bacterial bloated belly
Excessive body slime
Split fins
Lateral-lines bacterial infection
Cloudy fin and dark body
Darkening of body and hiding in corner
Two weeks old epidemic
Four weeks syndrome
Quarantine of incoming fishes
Pre-export fish quarantine treatment
Additive to packing water

Hope that helps :2tubsup:

Thanks and take care,
Andrew :hura3:
